Will Tropical Storm Fay Become Hurricane Fay?

Saturday August 16, 2008

Forecasters are predicting that Tropical Storm Fay has the ability to turn into a Category 1 hurricane after it moves through Cuba this weekend. If this happens, South Florida, especially the Florida Keys are in danger of being hit with a hurricane early next week. Other projected tracks have Fay coming up Florida's West coast. Whatever the possibilities for Tropical Storm Fay, it is strongly suggested that we start to prepare for a hurricane - or at least be ready for heavy winds and rain. What emergency supplies do you keep on hand in case of a hurricane? What was one of the more important items you had during the hurricanes of 2004? Share your comments below.

A corded phone. These phones do not require any electricity so when the power is out and cell phones are only picking up emergency signals, this is the only way to stay in touch with others.

When a storm is coming through and there is a possibility of the power going off, I start to make extra ice by filling up plastic containers and baggies with water and then freezing them.
