An entertaining evening for all At Holiday Lights Orlando, Mayor Buddy Dyer will throw the switch to light the City Beautiful's official Christmas tree at Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando. Thousands of LED lights and hundreds of baubles and bows will adorn the 40-foot, all-natural Norwegian Spruce.
Colorful lights will surround Lake Eola, converting the City park into a magical holiday scene. The GIFT is presented by Trinity Downtown and Holiday Lights Orlando, and features fun, food and a full-length movie--all at the Disney Amphitheater.
The Gifts'n'Goodies shopping village, including a special holiday appearance by The Food Truck Bazaar, opens the evening at 4 p.m. along Rosalind Avenue. It includes hand-made decorative items from mission churches in Central Africa and Israel, as well as unique jewelry, candles and various other holiday items plus homemade Christmas treats for both gift-giving and immediate enjoyment.
Following the tree lighting ceremony, guests and visitors will enjoy a free performance of Trinity Lutheran School's annual Christmas play, special musical groups and the story of Jesus' birth through readings and music in The GIFT stage celebration. An outdoor movie presentation of Elf will end the evening.
