If you purchased a home and made it your primary residence by December 31, 2012 then you are eligible for a homestead exemption on your property taxes.
If you are a new homeowner it is best to file for your Florida Homestead Exemption right away. You must have your application no later than March 1st of the year in which you wish to start receiving the exemption.
