The 10-story building, visible when you are inside Sea World, is famous for its magnificent atrium that is landscaped with more than 13,000 plants from 105 species. It also includes an indoor waterfall and a two-story Venetian aviary. (The 50 foot high aviary, which cost in excess of one-half a million dollars, houses tropical birds in a natural habitat.)
Inside the resort, its glass elevators give guests a magnificent panoramic view of the atrium and its centerpiece aviary.
As far as the resort's rooms, they are some of the largest in central Florida, each averaging nearly 500 square feet. All rooms are equipped with an armoire, in-room safe, refreshment center, entertainment center and Sony PlayStation. All have three telephones, voice mail, high speed internet access and marble bathrooms. The hotel itself recently finished a complete $18 million renovation of all of its rooms and suites. The renovation was the most complete in the property's history. Virtually everything is new - carpet, beds, frames, mattresses, bedspreads, draperies, upholstered furniture and pillows.
Dining & Lounges
There is a whole array of dining options at the Renaissance Orlando Resort. The top of the line in my opinion is the Sunday champagne brunch, held in the atrium. (Nearly 2,000 guests can be accommodated in the atrium for brunch, lunch or dinner.) The brunch is famous for its seafood offerings including its crab legs. As one who considers himself an unofficial connoisseur of Florida seafood buffets, although not an inexpensive buffet, I would rate this as one of the top buffets I have encountered. (I generally rate the buffets on the quality of the crab legs and the size and quality of the shrimp, and in both cases, this buffet was first class.)
The Atlantis is the resorts award winning signature restaurant specializing in fresh seafood and continental cuisine. For casual dining, Tradewinds offers outstanding variety indoors while The Deli offers daytime and evening snacks. Room service is also available 24 hours a day. The two-story Dolphins lounge is located in the atrium and Winstons offers scotch, fine wines, imported ales as well as fine cigars.
Catering to Children & Family
The Renaissance packs a lot of action under its roof for families and children. There is a game room & arcade, an Olympic-sized Mediterranean-style swimming pool, an oversized whirlpool, tennis courts, volleyball, outdoor playground, lighted basketball courts and a whole lot more. A great place for a family vacation!
Amenities & Special Services
If you still have any energy after a day at a theme park or after a day playing golf, you can keep your work out regiment at the resorts 24 hour fitness center. There is also a full service beauty salon, spa services & nail care. On the second floor, youll find the sauna & steam room.
