Walt Disney World

Disneys Animal Kingdom Lodge

From article by Tony Conboy III

Amenities

First and foremost is the Animal Kingdom Lodge's swimming pool, all 9,000 square feet of it. It is open 24 hours a day and features two whirlpools and a slide for children and adults. It has a zero-degree entry (beach like - gently sloping) portion that is also great for guests who use wheelchairs or guests who have very young toddlers just learning to walk.

For rest and relaxation, the Zahanati Massage and Fitness Center offers facials, body treatments and massage therapy. There is also a children's activity center; an arcade; a separate kiddie pool; and a playground. There are a number of restaurants on site, from casual dining, to five star restaurants.

Transportation around the Walt Disney Resort from the Animal Kingdom is convenient and free by using the Disney bus system. Once at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can park your car and whether you are headed to the Animal Kingdom Park, Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney or any other location in the Disney resort, buses that frequently come and go from the Animal Kingdom Lodge, are your best bet.

Special programs for children
The Animal Kingdom Lodges offers a series of kid-friendly programs to increase your knowledge and appreciation of African culture. One of these unique programs allows children to learn about and play African musical instruments. These special programs are offered at various times during the day at various locations, and are conducted by cast members (employees) from African countries who are working for Disney on a short-term basis. As the children attend these sessions, they “earn” animal icons to add their authentic african wrist bracelet, until they complete all of the sessions. It is a great way for your child to learn and have fun.
