I brought my date to this restaurant the other night. I have heard numerous things about it, all were very nice. However, I am a rather skeptical person when everyone I talk to says good thing s about a restaurant. So, I decided to give it a shot.
We got there about 10 minutes before my reservation. The place was packed! Still skeptical, we decided to have a glass of wine at the bar while we waited for our table. The man who greeted us was very polite and apologized for the inconvenience of waiting! I said, we were early, but never the less, he was sincere in his apology and said that they were much busier than anticipated. I guess if you own this restaurant, that would be a very good thing!
Not even 5 minutes goes by and we were ushered to our table in their main dining room. We were told that our drinks would be transferred to our dinner bill and not to worry.
The place was bussling with excitement! People coming and going, waiters and busboys weaving in and out of tables. I could'nt believe this was only a Wednesday night!
Our server came to our table quite prompt, ready to take our drink order, after noticing that we already had drinks, offered to have them transferred to our dinner bill. Suggested a couple of appetizers, and said he would be right back to give us the specials.
He wasn't kidding, we were amazed at how cordial he was to all of his tables. Even the ones that had small children. (we all know how children can act at the dinner table). After making sure his guests were well taken care of, he was back in a flash ready to tell us the specials of the night.
8 Specials! Unbelievable! He knew every one by heart! Right down to what type of pasta it was served with. Every ingredient in the sauces were named. When we mentioned that we would need more time to discuss the added items, he just smiled and said to take our time, and that he'd be back.
Of course, we had to have him go over the whole special list one more time, as there were just too many for us to remember all at once. He just laughed and said, "no problem", and went through them again, this time slower.
Anyway, everything we ordered came out in a timely fashion. No waiting for the salads, no having your meals arrive when you still have appetizers. everything was great.
The place was crowded, yet it felt very cozy. The tables were close together, yet everyone seemed happy to be there. If there was one complaint that I had, it would be the noise. But a few well placed carpets here and there, and I am sure that the sound level would go down.
I had one of the seafood specials, The stuffed Dover Sole, and my date had the Pollo Babbo, from the menu. Our appetizer was the Cozze con Fagioli, as well as 2 of there "house salads".
Overall, everything was fantastic! My friends were right. This is truly one of the better Italian Restaurants in Orlando. Great prices! Awesome atmosphere! and Incredibly friendly staff! Both my date and I give this place 6 out of 5 stars and will definitely be coming back!
Didn't catch our servers' name, but he was just fantastic! Big guy, brown hair, the only one there that doesn't look Italian. Just wanted to say thanks and great job! I will be asking for you when I come back.
By the way, since I impressed my date with the choice of restaurant, she and I will be hooking up again! Thanks again
