We had called ahead to get reservations. Even though we got lost and arrived THIRTY MINUTES LATE on a FRIDAY NIGHT, I just told the hostess and we bypassed the 45-minute wait outside to a cozy upstairs table. Our waiter, Norman, was wonderful; he recommended the shrimp-filled tostones. My fiance absolutely loved them; I'd recommend them to anybody going there. We both ended up ordering steaks. We checked the bill and everything was fine; the tip was NOT included in our bill, I don't know what that woman was talking about. We did, however, leave him a $20 tip because he did an excellent job. The manager personally came over to our table to see how everything was. Also, my fiance doesn't speak English all that well, and I was worried he might feel uncomfortable, but the waiter spoke to us in Spanish, so we had no problems. All in all, that was probably the best dining experience I've had in a looooong time. Now, if I could just get the recipe for those
tost!

The food tastes like microwave meals and the service
wasn't good. I would not recommend this to visitors to the Disney area. For the price, try someplace else in the area. for
Cuban food, it was bland.

The bartender was nice however the services and food were very poor. We thought we had ordered the appetizer sample platter and when only two of the dished that were suppose to be on it came and we questioned the waiter about it and suggested to him that he change the order to the sampler by bringing us the rest of what was on it, he had to consult the manager who said no. I called the
manager over and asked him why when we had received only half of what we wanted and only wanted to add the rest. The manager complied, stating that the waiter had explained it to him differently. We couldn't understand this as my friend who had explained what we wanted had done so in his own native hispanic language! The food was flavorless and I could have cooked it better myself at home and I'm not even cuban. We spent too much money what was an unacceptable meal. The shrimp tostones are made with tiny salad shrimp and aren't even spiced properly! I've had better yuca con mojo from a cheap little hispanic store with a hot food counter at the back of it. If Gloria Estefan has ever eaten here and liked the food, she should be committed.

I hope that somebody close to Gloria, stops by her Bongo restaurant unannounced to check the food serve there. This is the second and last time we have eaten there. We are never coming back. Nor recommend anyone there. On the contrary. The food was
aweful. I am still repeating it and my husband too. Those tostones rellenos with shrimp were bad. The stuffed potatoes were bad. The pork tenderloin was hard to chew and dry. I hope my 80 year old dad does not get sick. Never going back there again. Sorry. Gloria but your restaurant I we will never visit again. The food was cold. Even the expresso coffee. That is it...!!!
I would like to get my money back.

I was dining with three other friends. One on my friends is
Spanish and I thought he would love this place. We sat down for lunch. They seated us outside. That was ok it was a nice breezy day. We ordered sandwiches,
soups, salad and chicken for lunch. Our waitress was terrible. She barely came over to check on us. We had to go looking for her for more drinks.
The food was not all that impressive. If you want good
Cuban food. He to Tampa FLl, to Ybor City. You will have the most amazing Cuban food of your life. We finally tracked down our waitress once again for our bill. Let me just tell you it was just us and one other table in the whole restaurant.
I went inside to use the restroom and the building was empty except for employees. We paid our bill which was 80.00 for four people and each person order one item, and no alcohol drinks were purchased. So we paid our very high bill and left. Then we realized later in the day that the tip was already included on our bill. We were very upset that it was not on the menu that our tip is included in the bill and the waitress of course did not tell us that either. Think twice if you want to dine here.

Poor service, poor food
prep and presentation. A great idea poorly executed. Gloria needs to visit
this place. Her name won't carry it for long. A Planet Hollywood waiting to
happen and it won't be long. Very disappointing in all respects.

This restaurant, created by Emilio and Gloria Estefan, located at Downtown
Disney West Side, proved to be a delightful change from your standard Disney
dining. The atmosphere was bright, colorful and almost entertaining with
it's large tiled murals on the walls. Both food and service were
excellent. Eating in a Cuban Restaurant was a new experience for
me. The chicken and steak entrees that we choose were mild for the most
part, yet nicely seasoned, bringing out the natural juices and flavors of the
meat. Entrees are
served with rice, black beans or a combination of the two, along with your choice
of green or sweet plantains.
The children's menu consisted of 2 chicken dishes and 1 steak entree.
My children both choose the flank steak (something new for them) and thought
it was fantastic! Now they want me to start cooking like
that.
I suggest that you dine here early! We arrived around 4:00 on a
Saturday afternoon, and were seated right away. As we passed by the
restaurant again around 8:00, we noticed about 30-40 people standing in a line
outside the restaurant, waiting to get in.
