"Heroes Salute" to those who serve

To salute their dedication and service, all active U.S. military personnel, as well as all U.S. police, firefighters and rescue personnel will be given free admission to Universal’s theme parks in Orlando and Hollywood beginning January 1 and continuing through April 30, 2002 as part of a new “Heroes Salute” program.

Accompanying family members and friends of those eligible for free admission will be given a 50% discounted admission to the theme parks. The offer will be good at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Wet n’ Wild.

Universal, Orlando is creating a special multi-day “Heroes Ticket” for the program which will provide four days unlimited admission to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Wet n’ Wild. The pass expires seven days after it has been issued. Up to five family members and friends receive a 50 percent discount on admission. The offer must be used within seven days of issue or purchase. 

Active military personnel include any member of the Armed Forces as well as members of the United States Coast Guard and activated members of the National Guard or Reserves. The offer extends to both paid and volunteer emergency service workers. For those military personnel involved in Operation Enduring Freedom currently serving overseas, their spouse will be eligible to take advantage of the family and friends 50 percent discount.

As part of its Heroes Salute, Universal Orlando plans to recognize military personnel and rescue workers during its annual Mardi Gras celebration at Universal Studios by creating special floats and parade elements with patriotic themes. Armed Forces and rescue worker guests will be invited to ride aboard the floats. Universal’s Mardi Gras runs on select nights from Feb. 8th through April 6th. 

To obtain their free admission tickets, those eligible will need to present a photo ID and a military ID or appropriate ID and badge at the theme park box office and turnstile. Family members and friends must be present and the tickets purchased at the same time in order to obtain their one-time discounted admission. 

As part of the Heroes Salute program, discount rates at Universal on-site and partner hotels will also be available in both Orlando and Hollywood.
