Freshwater Fishing

Whether by air or by land, you can't miss noticing Florida's abundance of water. From the air, the landscape is dotted with specks of blue, while by car, you most likely won't find too many north-south, east-west roads that extend for any distance before curving to accommodate a shoreline somewhere.

With over 12,000 miles of streams and rivers, and 3 million acres of freshwater lakes, it's no wonder that fishing has always been a popular outdoor sport in Florida. It's been boasted that there are over 250 different species of freshwater fish in our our Florida waters.

Two of the most notable waterways are the north-flowing St. Johns River carrying an estimated 4 billion gallons into the Atlantic every year, and Lake Apopka which is the second largest lake in Florida.
