Be on the lookout!
Starting October 16th, the city will be invaded by some shifty looking lizards in disguise.

These are not your standard 4 to 6 inch green/brown quick-as-can-be variety. Oh no, these lizards will be anywhere from 5' 6" (standing) to 7' 6" (laying down).

You won't find them sneaking into your house, mailbox or car. Nor will they use their unique camouflage ability to change colors to match their surroundings. These reptiles are definitely going to stand out! Created by more than 200 local artists, each lizard will be one-of-a-kind, complete with his/her own name and sponsor.

How far can these fellows travel from Orlando City Hall, where they will first be on display October 16th? Your guess is as good as mine. Rumor has it they may be found at Downtown Orlando, Loch Haven Park, Lake Eola, the Orange County Convention Center, the Orlando International Airport, and anywhere in between.

What should you do if you come eye to eye with one of these critters - don't run away, take down his/her name, sponsor, artist name and location and email it to me. Let's see many of these fellows we can locate before they are captured and auctioned off next year.

Inspired by Chicago's "Cows on Parade", LizArt is a public art project developed by the City of Orlando, with net proceeds to benefit the Downtown Arts District. The Kick-off celebration will be held on October 16 at Orlando City Hall.
