Aiguille Rock Climbing Center

Extreme Adventure

From Hailey James, for About.com

Not just for climbers, cavers and stuntmen…this 24’ rock climbing arena is irresistible to the fearless but obtainable for those who seek adventure.

If you desire adventure then maybe Aiguille is the place for you! This is a fantastic way to spend your weekend and try something new! No worries, no experience is necessary. Aiguille is happy to greet new climbers without setting any appointment! Friendly instructors will help you get started. Conveniently, you may rent all the equipment you need at Aiguille, unless you have your own already.

In the real world, never climb alone...
It takes at least two people to climb - the climber and the belayer. The belayer is on the ground to handle the safety rope while the climber is on the wall. So be sure to invite a friend so instructors can teach you both how to belay each other!

Belaying...
When you arrive, you'll begin with Aiguilles's Introductory Belay Class. Belaying is the technique of controlling the rope so that a falling climber does not fall very far. When taking the class you learn how to use the facility safely so risk is avoided. After learning the basics, you and your partner can climb on your own! Staff members of Aiguille are always available for questions and assistance. The next step to belaying is Introduction to Climbing.

Bouldering, Rappelling...
Find out what it all means. Climbing is offered to people ages 4 and up. The minimum age to belay is 14. People of all ages, shapes, sizes and levels of fitness come for Aiguille's fun, indoor climbing!! If you have a physical impairment, or other handicap, and are interested in climbing please contact Aiguille to discuss it. Many people have been able to climb despite of their special needs.

Rock Climbing and Yoga...
Who would think the two were related? In addition to rock climbing Aiguille offers a dedicated yoga studio. Each activity offers a focus in movement and meditation. Climbers usually explain the sense of balance, and stress relief associated with each activity. If you enjoy climbing then maybe yoga is another fun thing to get involved with. Unlike many other sports and activities yoga, as well as rock climbing, are activities you can do that you are never too late to get started.

Team Aiguille...
Kids are involved in Aiguille in many ways. Aiguille offers a competitive rock climbing team known as Team Aiguille for kids 19 and under. Summer camps are offered weekly which include climbing, instruction, team building activities, challenge activities and more! You are free to make an appointment for your child's birthday party and are encouraged to take to take advantage of the picnic tables they offer, for your celebration. Other activities they offer for kids are the Boy Scout Merit Badge and private instruction. See you there!
