SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA :

The City of Casselberry is located about 20 minutes from downtown Orlando, and 40 minutes from the Orlando Airport. An hour to the east coast and 2 hour drive to the gulf coast. Casselberry, known as the “Community minded city” is a suburb in the Orlando area. It is predominantly a residential and recreational area with 16 parks and over two dozen lakes. The city's government is unique in that it is a Commission/City Manager form of government in which the mayor and a 4 member commission are elected for four year terms, these elected officials employ a city manager to over see the daily running of the city.

HISTORY :

In 1926 Hibbard Casselberry bought 3,000 acres of land near the newly opened highway 17-92. On this land Hibbard developed a large fernery that is eventually known as Fern Park. In 1940 Casselberry was incorporated as a town and Hibbard Casselberry is the first mayor. In 1965 Casselberry was incorporated as a city. Fifty years after incorporation Casselberry's citizens voted on having a city manager.

NOTABLE PLACES :

Casselberry Art House- Displays works by local and international artists. Located near City hall and on Lake Concord. The Art House also does classes and has workshops for painters.
