Florida's Community College system, administered by the Florida Department of Education, provides a key access point to higher education. The community colleges provide a host of programs designed for personal or professional development. Committed to helping students get the training they need to improve their lives, the community colleges can provide necessary assistance. A student that needs remediation to attain skills needed for entrance to a four year college, an adult learner seeking to retrain for a new career or a veteran returning to civilian life can each find a program suited to his/her needs.
The community colleges offer a large selection of certification programs and/or associate degrees in areas including agriculture, business. education, finance, health science, hospitality, marketing, public safety, engineering and information technology.
Bachelor's degrees at community colleges are provided through partnerships between the community college and public or private four-year institutions. Courses are taken on the community college campus or via distance learning and the degree is awarded by the partnering four-year institution.
