Orlando Community:

College Park is a quaint community located just northwest of the downtown Orlando area. Many of the streets have been named for famous colleges like Princeton, Harvard and Yale. Most of the bungalow homes were built in the early 1900’s. Affordable housing close to the downtown area continues to keep this community popular. Investors as well as young professionals have renovated many of the older homes in College Park, turning this area into a trendy, popular place to call home.

Origins:

The first settlers to the area arrived in the mid 1800’s after a truce in the Second Seminole War and passage by Congress of the Armed Occupation Act of 1842, where settlers were offered land grants.

What's Notable:

College Park is home to Edgewater High School as well as the popular Catholic High School of Bishop Moore. Along the main drag of Edgewater Drive, you will find quaint shops unique cafes. Bicycle shops reside alongside chain drugstores and consignment shops. The influx of new high priced condos and town homes will ensure more dining and shopping options in the future.

Housing Options:

If you are into remodeling you may still be able to get a deal in College Park as most of the small homes have already been renovated. In the last few years investors have purchased dilapidated homes on larger lots and put up 2 to 4 town homes. Due to the dismay of many residents, a high rise, upscale condo development has also been constructed on Edgewater Drive.

Location:

About 15 miles northwest of downtown Orlando, College Park offers easy access into town via Edgewater Drive or I-4. Map for I-4 and Princeton.

Stats:

Census 2000 shows that most of College Park's residents are of working age, 18 to 49 and are homeowners in the community. A high percentage of households, 65.5% are without children. The majority of people have less than a 30 minute commute to work.
