We have some great entertainment complexes and fabulous bars in the Orlando area, but some of our top night spots for both tourists and locals are bars and lounges that are found in local hotels. Below is a list of some of my favorites, of course I have not visited every hotel bar in Orlando, so I'm asking for a little assistance with this one.

Sign on to the forum and tell me about some of the hotel bars in the Orlando area that you enjoy.

The Legendary Why Not Lounge
One of the Orlando area's longest standing hot-spots for live entertainment and dancing - dating back to somewhere around 1975 - the Why Not Lounge, in the Holiday Inn, Altamonte Springs, has earned the distinction of Legendary. Live music, currently performed by House Party, gets the crowd dancing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. Friendly bar staff and drink prices that can't be beat keep the regulars coming back. There is occasionally, a minimal, $3.00 cover charge.

Backstage Nightclub
An International Drive favorite, Backstage is one of the larger dance clubs around. Located in the Rosen Plaza Hotel, Backstage brings in locals and tourists alike Wednesday through Saturday evenings for a great selection of dance music performed by the band Soundtrax and a DJ. There is no cover for hotel guests.

Rix Lounge
A bar with style and ambiance to rival the top hotel bars of New York and Vegas. Created in 2008, near the lobby of the Coronado Springs Resort, this intriguing nightspot is sure to be a favorite with guests staying at any of the Disney hotels or for those coming into the convention center. Top 40's music is played nightly by a DJ. With a very chic Mexican inspired ambiance, the lounge has comfortable sectioned, intimate seating.

Velvet Bar
This chic bar at the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando serves up cocktails, wine, beer and appetizers every night of the week. No nightly entertainment, except on the last Thursday of the month when the Velvet Bar along with the hotel lobby are transformed into one of the hottest happy hour events around, Velvet Sessions. The only cover charge is for Velvet Sessions.

Bosendorfer Lounge
Aptly named after the rare Bosendorfer piano that graces the rotunda, this upscale lounge in Downtown Orlando features live entertainment nightly, exceptional bartenders and a delicious appetizers. With it's comfortable seating options, the Bosendorfer Lounge is a great place for an after work meeting or an after dinner night cap. No cover charge, but some nights the bar may be hosting special functions.
