The hip, new tend that until now has only been seen in Europe has opened right here in Orlando on International Drive. The largest permanent bar made of ice in the United States opened October 1, 2008 on I-Drive near the Orange County Convention Center. This excellent location will ensure that convention goers have a unique nighttime entertainment venue to visit.
The focal point of the new club is the ICEBAR itself - kept at a chilly 27 degrees Fahrenheit (-2.8 Celsuis.) Over 50 tons of pure ice that make up the bar is designed, cut and sculptured by Olympic, world-class ice carvers. Every six months the interior of Orlando's ICEBAR will be transformed into a new theme.
ICEBAR:
Take an expedition into the ICEBAR where everything including the walls, bar, tables, sofas and chairs are made out of ice. Fortunately fur throws drape every piece of furniture and a thermal cape and gloves are provided to keep you warm during your 45-minute adventure. As you enter the sub-arctic space, you will be greeted with your choice of a Grey Goose exclusive cocktail or a mocktail in a crystal clear ice 'glass'. No beer or wine in here - it's too cold for them. The ICEBAR is designed for adults as well as children to explore and experience. There is an admission charge into the ICEBAR and your first drink is complimentary.
Tips: Unless you are from the bitter cold north and have braved temps like this before, don't try to be macho, do put on the cape and gloves - 27 degrees is cold! The cape and gloves that are provided will keep you warm, but for women wearing a dress and/or open-toed shoes after about a half hour, your toes might start going numb.
The Chill Lounge:
Warm up before and after your visit to ICEBAR in the Chill Lounge. This 3,000-square-foot ultra-hip bar will feature live entertainment, caviar flights, premium beverage service and signature drinks. Keeping the chilly theme going, a Nordic setting is created here with contrasting hues of blues, specialty lighting, crystal chandelier and beaded shimmer walls. There is no cover to enter the Chill Lounge.
The Polar Patio:
Still too cold for you? Outdoor entertainment space is available for those looking to warm up or just enjoy the Florida weather.
The Gift Shop:
If you are interested in taking a little souvenir home from your visit to ICEBAR, there is a little gift shop filled with specialty merchandise.
Meetings and Special Events:
ICEBAR Orlando can accommodate corporate functions, holiday parties, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, bachelor and bachelorette parties and special events for up to 475 guests.
