Krispy Kreme

First opening it's doors in 1937 in North Carolina, Krispy Kreme has taken it's time reaching the Orlando market. At one time - many, many years ago - one of the big highlights of going to Daytona Beach was to stop in at the Krispy Kreme located on International Speedway Blvd. Back in the 60's & 70's the Daytona Beach location was the closest Orlando store. I remember as a child what a treat it was to get a hot, fresh donut from Krispy Kreme - sticky icing and all.

Well now Krispy Kreme has nicely positioned itself at 4 locations around town. The first location to open a few years back was in Winter Park where it is always fun to watch as the donuts go through the production line - the pouring, frying, flipping and finally the glazing. Nowadays Krispy Kreme donuts can be found just about anywhere, mini marts to grocery stores, but nothing beats visiting one of their restaurants for a sit-down feast of hot-off-the-rack donuts. Be sure to watch for the Hot Light that announces when hot donuts are ready.

A dozen glazed donuts will run around $7.00.

There are currently four locations in the Central Florida area, Winter Park on 17-92, on University Blvd near the University of Central Florida, near the Mall at Millenia and on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.
