Food-savvy locals may remember Italian native Rocco Potami from the mid 1980's when he was involved with restaurants such as Christini's, La Via, and the Villa Nova in Winter Park and Orlando. Rocco is back in town and anxious to share his passion for great food and wine.
Rocco's Italian Grille, open for lunch and dinner, is an upscale, yet comfortable, place for friends to gather, business luncheons , and intimate dinners. The menu offers a variety of authentic dishes that provide a diverse culinary experience from each of Italy's regions , North to South, including Sicily. Traditional favorite Italian dishes, appetizers , and desserts can be found on Rocco's menu, alongside a variety of exclusive regional dishes from Italy, not likely found on the menus of other Italian restaurants . Fresh ingredients, imported pastas , and special sauces are considered the heart of fine Italian cooking at Rocco's.
Focusing on wines mostly from Italy and California, the owners themselves hand select the hundred or so offerings that are available. Some wines from South Africa, Australia and South America area are also listed.
In January 2007, AOL City-guide named Roccos Italian Grille Best Italian restaurant in Orlando. Just months later, Orlando Sentinel restaurant critic Scott Joseph named Roccos his critics choice for the areas best Italian eatery.
Home to many different businesses over the years, Rocco's takes over a portion of the 1943's building at 400 South Orlando Avenue that for years was home to the original Cafe Trastevere. Rocco and Enrico completely renovated the space for their 170-seat restaurant. New windows open up the rooms with style and warmth. Golden-hued walls, warm woods and white linens along with outdoor garden dining add an authentic Italian old world style to the restaurant.
