The world’s largest www:Marriott.worldcenter.com Marriott Resort may be massive in every respect but it doesn’t overlook the little details that make a resort memorable. Located just minutes from the entrance of Walt Disney World, and visible from I-4, the 2,000+ room Marriott caters to families on vacation as well as business travelers.

Rising 29 stories and having its glass elevators ringed in green fluorescent light, the Marriott is easy to spot, and impressive. While driving on nearby roads the elevators and the lobby will “wow” you when you see them, no matter how many other upscale resorts you’ve stayed in. In fact, at night when approaching by car, the elevators, ringed in their lights, give the sprawling resort the appearance of the fabled “Emerald City” of the Wizard of OZ fame.

Children Activities
Swimming in the massive lagoon shaped pool all day would have satisfied my eight year old daughter, but I wanted to take advantage of the expensive tickets for the Orlando theme park I had purchased in advance. (How many parents have to prod their children out of the pool to go a theme park?) She was having a blast playing on the long winding water slide and in the waterfalls that came off of the simulated caves.

Children are not just an afterthought at the resort. Organized children’s activities are available daily from 10-4 at the main swimming pool, which is the signature of the resort. (There are a number of swimming pools and hot tubs including an indoor swimming pool.) Everywhere you looked around the main pool you saw two items: waterfalls and palm trees – part of the lavish tropical landscaping. Examples of children’s activities include: sand castle building; key chain making, bubbles galore, jump rope contest, scavenger hunt, ping pong contest, puzzle piece contest. You get the picture – lots of activities to keep your children occupied and having a great time.

Golf & Spa & Other Activities
For mom and dad, besides relaxing and swimming, there is golf and a spa/fitness center. Hawk’s Landing is the resort’s par 72 (6810 yards) championship golf course. The course was recently redesigned by Robert E. Cupp II. Built on the resort’s 200 acres and bordered by the resort on three sides, Hawk’s Landing includes hills, aquatic vegetation and water play on 15 holes. (The “Vacation Value Rate” of $169 per night includes unlimited golf and breakfast for two adults – a great deal for golf lovers. Note: This rate is not available at all times.)

If you’ve forgotten your clubs or just want to try your hand at golf for the first time with a lesson, no problem. You can rent shoes, clubs, everything you need at the clubhouse. Lessons, a driving range and two putting greens are also available to hone your golf skills.

A variety of spa services are available to soothe your mind and spirits. Swedish massage, Japanese Shiatsu to Egyptian Art of Reflexology is available in the spa or can be arranged for in your room. Nail services, body treatments and skin care packages are also offered. The 4,000 square foot state of the art fitness center features 21 pieces of cardiovascular equipment and free weights to keep your body tone while in Orlando.

Other Activities include: four lighted tennis courts; basketball courts; volleyball court; and, activity center featuring ping pong and an arcade featuring video games.

Restaurants
There are 10 restaurants and lounges to choose from at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort. Everything from a Starbucks in the lobby to fine dining including an authentic Tuscan restaurant (Ristorante Tuscany) and a Japanese Steakhouse (Mikado Steakhouse) with a Sushi Bar.
