The resort is actually two separate resorts so before you head out, know where you are headed - the Yacht Club Resort or the Beach Club Resort. This will make check-in much easier. The Beach Club Resort is a re-creation of a late 19th century era New England lakeside resort, while the Yacht Club Resort is themed after hotels in Nantucket in the 1880s.
Both are set on the water and in typical Disney fashion, Disney doesnt miss the mark in taking you back in time in these Deluxe Disney resorts that are on a par with the other better known deluxe properties such as the Polynesian and Contemporary.
As mentioned previously, because of its nautical theme, Disney went all out went it came to the pool. It is not your ordinary resort swimming pool, but basically a mini-waterpark with slides, a lazy river and gallons and gallons of fun all set on a sandy bottom floor. Thats right; you are walking on sand in the bottom of the pool, not cement.
In the pool category, the resort clearly outdistances the better known Disney resorts. So, if swimming is what you are after, its full steam ahead.Although the resort appears isolated and a little hard to find, the guests staying at its nearly 1200 rooms have access to convenient and free transportation to all of the theme parks thanks to Disney buses, water launches or their own feet. It is a short walk to nearby EPCOT and Disney-MGM Studios.
There are a wide variety of eating and entertainment choices available in the resort. An on-site health club, jogging trail, tennis facility, volleyball court and catch and release fishing outings will help you burn off excess pounds you may put on after trying the delights at the Yacht Club Gallery (casual) or the Yachtsman Steakhouse (upscale) restaurants.
As far as room rates per night, as mentioned previously this is an upscale resort, one of Disney's finest, so be prepared to pay appropriately. Rates can be substantially lower during off seasons.
