Each year since 1953 the National Hurricane Center produces a list of names for the current year's hurricanes and storms. In the beginning, the list consisted entirely of female names, but in 1979 the center began alternating male names along with female names. There are six lists that are rotated. The only time a list changes is when a name is retired due to devastating damage it caused.

The list is in alphabetical order with 21 names starting with the letter A and continuing to the letter W with Q and U omitted.
