New Exhibits at the Museum

By , About.com Guide

Celebrating Central Florida Photographers, an exhibit of color and black-and-white photographs taken by members of the Orlando Camera Club, will run from March 3 through April 26, 2009 at the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens. The show features 37 prints by 12 local photographers of various ages, backgrounds and life pursuits.

Participating photographers are among the best the area has to offer: Wayne Bennett, Tony Blankenship, Ken Blye, Anna Cary, Carey Cordell, John Francis, Reg Garner, Susan Germyn, Bill Grisaitis, Tom May, Don Newton and Deb Sandidge.

The works will portray a wide range of subjects and techniques, including nature, landscape, architecture, still life and digitally enhanced images. The photographers have each chosen works which they consider to be among their finest pieces. Most of the photographs, along with smaller prints, will be available for purchase.

ABOUT THE ORLANDO CAMERA CLUB: Now in its fifth year, the Orlando Camera Club has a membership of nearly 500 photographers. Their members range from beginners to seasoned professionals. The club offers monthly seminars, a mentoring program and regular field trips. This past year the Orlando Camera Club was selected as the winner of the 2008 Windland Smith Rice International Award for best nature photography portfolio by Nature's Best Photography magazine. The club meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the Marks Street Senior Center.
