Ronald Blocker, Orange County Public School's current superintendent was appointed in 2000. The superintendent is appointed by the school board. Seven elected officers make up the Orange County School Board and are elected every 4 years with no limit on the number of terms a board member can hold.

In 2007, Orange County Public School (OCPS) system was ranked as the 11th largest school district in the United States with over 176,000 students.

With this enrollment, it is no wonder that OCPS is one of Orlando's top employers.
