Halloween Horror Nights Universal Orlando

Review:

This was my first time going and needless to say, I was excited. I am a fan of F/X, so I went for inspiration. The first house we went in was Screamhouse. Since I have never been in a haunted house before, I didn't know what to expect. One thing is for sure, the smell in there gags you. Really, it smells like mulch gone very bad. The one thing that totally disappointed me was the lack of enthusiasm in the characters, the only exception was the Caretaker.

When I was able to get a good look at the makeup, I also was terribly let down. The next one- Run was better -again the smell, something like bad meat was throughout the haunt, I liked most of the props, but again, the makeup was a let down. The next two haunts were the worst- Dungeon of Terror and the People Under the Stairs. They were the hokiest things I had ever saw.

It's pretty bad when you are encouraging the actors to "get into it man!" I had almost given up on going on any others, but I really wanted to see the clown. Psycoscareapy was great, even though the line was enormous, it was for good reason. The props and scenes were great. The bathroom scene? I will never forget that smell! One of my friends got hit in the mouth by the shoots of water. Blech!

The main problem thoughout all of them, even the ones I thought were ok was that the actors just didn't seem into their parts. Someone jumping out of a corner gets old after so long, as well as saying "Hey!", or "Join us!" Or "Kill me!" gets lamer and lamer the more it is said. The only scarezone that was excellant was the Harvest of Souls.

Love the scarecrows, the little people coming at your ankles were cool too, but couldn't they have had some scarier noisemaker? it sounded like a demented demon duck. Sweet 16 show was good, love Darkness and his wenches. In the scare zones and the shows, the makeup is great, but in ALL the haunts they were lame, lame, lame. I had really hoped for better by someone as well financed and employed like Universal.
